  Tell me if this sounds familiar: Historically great team falters early but wins enough during the regular season to get to the postseason. The team falters early during postseason series, pissing off their over-controlling and attention-thriving owner, thus prompting him to threaten the team manager’s job security. Team wins close game, extending series that seemed all but over. Know who I’m talking about? Yep — Major League the movie. No, wait, we’re talkin’ bout those Yanks. I find it hard to not root for ARod and Joe Torre, two of the best and most important pieces to that puzzle, and two of the most highly under-appreciated people in the game. When, oh when, will they send “the boss” out to pasture?
• Stanford, Harbaugh Upset No. 2 USC
  They were all but set to face LSU in the BCS title game, their cake-like schedule a minor speed bump, when all of a sudden Jim Harbaugh happened. Stanford’s upset of the former number 1 Trojans took a toll on their national title hopes. In the AP and USA Today polls USC fell to No. 10. In the BCS poll — the one that matters at the end of the season when picking who’s who for competing for the national title — the Trojans sat at No. 7. Either way you look at it, the upset was mammoth and USC needs to do some serious dominating from here on out and hope other top-ranked teams keep getting upset.
• Redskins Shut Down Potent Lions Offense, Win 34-3
  The Redskins’ D came to play, as they shut down the number-2 ranked passing offense in the league to pull off a 34-3 win. Highlight of the game is when Skins QB Jason Campbell connects with 285-pounder Mike Sellers, who pays it forward and connects with Kennoy Kennedy in a much, much different way. Campbell was 23-29 with 282 yds and 2 TDs to lead the Skins’ O, who flourished despite missing their #1 go-to receiver, Santana Moss, for the entire game.
