The Patriots sliding yet another win closer to a perfectly unbeaten season came as no surprise to the masses. But despite all indications, there were others out there rooting heavily against the team many of us love to hate. Bill Belichick appears to finally have NFL coaching down-pat (no pun intended); granted, evidence has shown it to not be 100% legal.
His smug demeanor and constant flirtation with the rules of the game in terms of fair competition — fiddling with injury reports, fiddling with cameras illegally on the sidelines, fiddling with his sweatshirt to look like a strong-willed, rebellious hobo — make his New England team easy to root against.
Again, despite all the voodoo dolls, chants and jinxes a few of us could put on them, the Patriots managed to beat the latest popular bandwagon team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and move within two wins away from overtaking the throne as the most dominant team in any one season of the NFL’s history.
Sidenote: Someone drag Mercury Morris out of the recording studio for a moment and let him know that despite his and mine own best efforts, the Patriots are on his block!
Sidenote #2: If you guessed that part of the reason for this post was just to show the oh-so-relevant Simpsons pic, you are correct.
