Why Black Friday is actually the best deal for RETAILERS, not shoppers
REGO PARK, Queens (PIX11) - This is the biggest shopping day of the year, with many bargains to be had, but whether or not that makes for truly good deals is an open question.
“I got legwarmers, and these boots that are usually expensive,” shopper Vanessa Sierra told PIX11 News, as she showed off a variety of footwear that were prizes of her Black Friday retail excursion. She said that she’d bought what usually costs hundreds of dollars, but on Black Friday, for her, “Everything [was] under $100.”
She was among the 93 million Americans who took to malls, shopping centers and big box stores on Friday, looking for one thing.
“The sales,” said Maureen Tua, who’d just left the Toys R Us at Rego Center in Queens, and had a three foot-long boxed toy tool set jutting out of her shopping cart. ”This was like $160,” she told PIX11 News. ”I paid 60 bucks for it. It was good deals [today].”
