"I didn't really know all of the science back then," says Roberts. "I thought I did, but I learned so much more about footwear and that the cushioning isn't really helping us. Studies say the more cushioning in the shoes, the harder you're going to hit the ground."
This spring, Roberts opened Revolution Natural Running & Walking Center, 11702 W. North Ave., and the first thing you'll notice when setting foot in his store is that it's devoid of traditional running shoes companies. With prices from about $80-120 per pair, his offerings are in line with what you'd expect from Asics, Brooks or Saucony, but instead he sells brands like Inov-8, Fivefinger and Merrell.
Light as air, these trainers don't exactly look like running shoes, and the Fivefinger shoes with separate slots for your toes don't even look like shoes at all. And, unlike Roberts' approach in fitting orthotics, now he spends less time looking at arch height and pronation – and more time looking at stride and cadence, where you feet land and how you run – before suggesting a shoe.

I have the 8 and it's alright. Haven't had any problems but I feel it could have a bit more cushioning. Ive never had an asics shoe before. Does anyone have both? I have very high arched feet and i'm pretty skinny. 5'7 120 pounds. I had the adrenaline
i like asics far more than brooks. Asics are a really great shoe for distance running but for sprinting I like Adidas better.
