Toshiba Q series 128/256/512 GB SSD review
Up until now we really weren't that impressed by the SSDs from Toshiba. If the new Q series is a sign of things to come, however, Toshiba can definitely be considered a serious player on the SSD market.
The performance of the Q series SSDs is good. Especially the 128 GB model is is very fast for this segment. High-end models such as the Samsung 840 Pro are still faster overall, but Toshiba can be proud of its latest series. Moreover, in the three PCMark benchmarks, which are representative of real consumer applications, the Q series scores very well.
In terms of pricing, Toshiba's Q series is positioned in the middle. There are more affordable alternatives, such as the Plextor M5S, Samsung 840 Evo, Crucial M500 and Kingston V300. When you compare the performance of the 256 GB Toshiba Q series to the same capacities of those four , the Samsung and Toshiba SSDs are the fastest on average. The Plextor M5S remains the most affordable option, but it's somewhat slower.
