Turn a Basic Pink Tutu Into An Amazing Ballet Costume
A pink tutu can be a great beginning to a wonderful outfit for any recital or dance. They provide a great beginning color to add to and create cute outfits for the child or the adult. If you are looking for a costume you can add to the pink tutu or use pink tutus to add to what you already have. With a little imagination you can turn it into something different, something adorable, and something everyone will love. Begin with the pink tutu over white tights. Use a combination of light pink and dark pink in the tutu skirt for a layered effect and use of color.
Add a simple white and pink stripe jacket or vest. This gives a candy look to the outfit and it can be completed with a selection of white or pink and white stripe candy canes used as hair decorations. Bright pink shoes on a portion of the dancers and white shoes on the rest of the dancers present a blended look for the team. Pink tutus can be used as a last piece of an outfit just to add fluff and fun to an outfit. Choose a light pink leotard and tights as your base. Add pink shoes with a glitter look and lots of shiny junk jewelry. Use bangles and beads on a short strand so there are no injuries during routines. Spray the hair of each dancer with white and pink glitter until it shines and add a collection of light pink, tiny roses as decoration.

Princesses and pocketbooks
DETROIT — It’s mid-morning on a weekday early in January, and 11 aspiring princesses are about to have their dreams come true.
Sitting on the floor of My Girly Party in Farmington Hills, Mich., they’re wearing pastel gowns adorned with sparkles, ruffles and tulle over their jeans and sweaters.
Out walks 19-year-old Danae Picklo, a vocal performance student at Western Michigan University. She’s barefoot, wearing a bright red wig and a mermaid tail.
“Look at this stuff! Isn’t it neat?” Picklo sings, her voice light and sweet. “Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?”
The girls, ranging in age from 3 to 8, stare in awe.
To them, Picklo is Ariel, the mermaid-turned-human princess from the Disney movie “The Little Mermaid.”
And to them, this experience, which includes a make-up application, story, pink-frosted cupcakes, tiaras and pink princess tea, is bliss.
The princess craze is major, from parties, dolls, play castles and books to tiaras, play gowns, play slippers, princess wigs and everything in between. But what message does this booming culture — which centers on pristine appearances, happy endings and finding a prince to love — have for little girls?
