We show you, in slow motion detail, how to tell if you have this gait pattern.
Underpronation, also called excessive supination or oversupination, occurs when the foot cannot properly pronate - that is, turn inward - at the end of the runner's stride. Since overpronation is a far more common problem than underpronation in runners, most ergonomic running shoes are designed for men and women who are overpronators. Those shoes have serious motion control and rigid stability features that don't help extreme supinators. The best shoe for a runner who supinates is one that discourages the type of gait that can lead to ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis , shin splints, and various bone and joint injuries in the lower body.
Look for Extra Cushioning in the Midsole for Increased Shock AbsorptionWhen a runner's foot supinates at the end of a stride, when it ideally would be turning inward, it rolls outward. Thus the outer edge of the foot, from forefoot to heel, absorbs the brunt of the impact of the woman or man's weight. With normal pronation, the soft tissues of the foot would cushion the blow. With underpronation, the bones and joints absorb much of the shock, and for regular athletes, this can lead to injury over time.

For the experienced runners out there with neutral or high arches; what would be the best type of shoe for this type of runner? I'm partial to asics and read that Asics Gel Nimbus would be suitable, but wanted to get some other opinions. I'm coming off
I've worn the Asics Gel Nimbus. It's a great shoe for a neutral runner who likes a nice cushiony shoe.
