SUV hits tree in Halifax at 100 mph
Ballet slippers and jazz shoes surrounded the tree on South Street that beloved dance teacher Caitlin Ledwell crashed into Saturday morning.
On Sunday, a steady stream of Ledwell’s friends and family left balloons and flowers at the makeshift memorial where the 26-year-old Halifax woman was killed.
Fire officials said Ledwell crashed on South Street at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. They previously said she appeared to be driving at more than 100 mph, but said Sunday that the information was released in error.
“Until the police investigation is concluded, we will not have estimated speeds and the cause of the crash,” Halifax Fire Chief William C. Carrico said in an e-mail to The Enterprise on Sunday.
Ledwell was driving south on the road and appears to have lost control of her 2011 Nissan SUV on a slight curve in front of 137 South St., fire officials said.
The SUV came to rest with the tree, which is about 2 feet in diameter, between the driver’s and front passenger seat. Police said nearby residents pulled Ledwell from the burning SUV, and she was later pronounced dead at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. She was alone in the SUV and no other vehicles were involved.
How can I make my slipper ballet shoes into make-shift pointe shoes?
Okay,so next year I might be moving from ballet slippers to pointe shoes and I am soooo excited! But, I feel like I can't wait! So can someone give me directions as to how to make some makeshift point shoes out of my old slipper ballet shoes? PLEASE HELP! you really can't do that, they sizing of the material is completely different plus you would need another inch or so to sew in a block or wood/stacked cardboard. and thats really not safe. go to your dance store and just buy a pair of shoes.
