Pre-christmas budget makes shopping easy
Given Budget week precedes Christmas week by a mere 12 days, any woman worth her salt would have got stuck into the shopping by now, knowing the money could well be capped come December 7.
Men, on the other hand, will always leave that most horrendous of chores until after the Budget, knowing that she knows the last thing he should be blowing his money on is Christmas presents when heating oil is down to mere cupfuls, carbon tax has put the garden fence in danger and the 'no tights' rule is being enforced on the mantelpiece again.
Christmas is the only time of the year when a man welcomes poor. Christmas parties save on meals at home. You can head up north and load the boot up with booze knowing that she knows buying slabs of beer and two-for-one cut-price Scotch is more economical than the cans you can fit in your bowling fingers down the local offie.
And the VAT hike is sure to be playing on her mind when you head out on December 23 looking to buy her Christmas box, and you can use her bottle of Beyonce's Heat to fire the plum pudding given the huge tax rise on brandy (she knows that you know all things Budgetary).
